The inner dress is a sleek sheath of jersey that has stretch but is not fluid - it is just thick enough to define shape but not so think as to be heavy or uncomfortable - he creates structure with it while still allowing the body to be able to move freely - this was cutting edge fabric in the late 80s and early 90s - Tom Ford also used a version in some of his early Gucci collections

This treatment would have been done directly fused onto the fabric and has an almost 3D effect
